On October 26, 2023, the Ministry of Justice, PRC, held the first press conference on the theme of "Belt and Road Initiative, Hand in Hand with the Rule of Law", which focused on "Leveraging the role of BRILA as an international professional organization to support the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)". Mr. Kang Yu, Secretary-General of BRILA, Mr. Han Yong’an, Director of BRILA Xi 'an Center, and Mr. Huang Shan, Director of BRILA Guangzhou Center attended the press conference where they provided relevant information.

Kang Yu introduced that BRILA, established in 2019 as an international lawyers' organization,is dedicate to support the high-quality development of the BRI. BRILA currently boasts 2,670 members, including lawyers' associations, law firms, legal institutions and individual lawyers from 54 countries and regions, among which over 430 are group members. Since its inception, BRILA has promoted its member to actively engage in the construction of the BRI by conducting legal research, releasing national reports on legal environment, issuing work guidelines, providing legal consultationand advices, holding or participating in conferences, inspections, trainings and seminars in the fields of international trade, cross-border dispute resolution, capital market, maritime and shipping, intellectual property, information security and digital economy. Members of BRILA have engaged profound discussions regarding legal hotpots and difficulties involved in energy and infrastructure construction, actively participated in people-to-people exchanges between China and Laos, and provided professional, accurate and high-level legal services in significant BRI projects including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the China-Thailand Railway and the power transmission in Laos.

Han Yong’an shared that the BRILA Xi'an Center has actively explored and promoted the real right of international railway transport documents, and built a new platform for foreign-related market players to access high-quality legal service resources in various forms. In cooperation with the Xi'an Bureau of Justice, Shaanxi Yongjiaxin Law Firm, Northwest University of Political Science and Law and other institutions, Xi'an Center continued to follow up the current domestic practice and legislative trends and has applied for the research on the subject of the real right of railway documents in China-Europe Freight Train.

Huangshan introduced that since its establishment, BRILA Guangzhou Center has, by tapping its functions and potentials and taking the opportunity of serving the joint construction of the BRI, continuously strengthened the capacity-building and promote the brand of foreign-related legal services, conducted legal exchanges and cooperation with relevant organizations in Southeast Asian countries along the BRI, and provided high-quality legal service for enterprises to "go abroad" for the BRI cooperation.  

Going forward, BRILA plans to deepen its research on the legal system and policies of the BRI co-participating countries and regions, actively engage with more international cooperation mechanisms, establish a higher platform for the development of BRILA and a 24-hour legal service network centered on BRILA and covering the BRI countries and regions, optimize the mechanism and institution of BRILA as an international professional organizations, fully leverage BRILA’s role as a platform, window and bridge to realize the sharing of achievements on a larger scale.
