BRILA Delegation Attended the 33rd POLA Conference in Kuala Lumpur

  From July 13 to 15, 2023, the 33rd Presidents of Law Associations in Asia ("POLA") Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hosted by the Bar Council of Malaysia, the conference was attended by more than 50 delegates from 15 national and regional bar associations and 3 international lawyers organisations. BRILA, as an international lawyers organization, was invited to attend the conference as an observer.

  During the conference, BRILA delegation actively introduced China's progress in law-based governance, China's initiative of promoting high-quality "Belt and Road" development , and the role of BRILA in providing high-quality and efficient legal services for the "Belt and Road" construction. In addition, Secretary General of the BRILA, Mr. Kang Yu had friendly and in-depth conversations with presidents of international lawyers organizations, including Mr. Richard Briggs, President of IPBA, Ms. Melissa Kaye Pang, President of LAWASIA, and presidents of national (regional) bar associations, for example, Ms Karen Cheah Yee Lynn, President of the Bar Council of Malaysia, Mr. Prashant Kumar, President of the Bar Association of India, etc, on deepening exchanges and promoting win-win cooperation.

  This is the first time that BRILA has been invited as an international lawyers organization to participate in POLA conference as an observer, demonstrating the support and recognition for BRILA by the legal profession of Asia-Pacific countries and regions as well as the POLA mechanism. By participating in the conference, BRILA has strengthened understanding, renewed friendship and promoted cooperation with lawyers from Asia-Pacific countries and regions. Delegates of Asian-Pacific bar associations expressed their hope to continue to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning with BRILA and work together  to provide professional legal service support for the in-depth advancement of the "Belt and Road" construction.
